Making Video Files
You can capture video from various sources such as:
- DV Camcorder
- Video Security Camera
- Web Cam
- TV Capture Card
All of these should appear as video capture sources in your software. Free software you can use to capture and record video to disk includes Windows Media Encoder and VideoLAN.
VideoLAN is an Open software project so has more options for file output formats and also allows DVDs to be streamed.
The software allows you to choose the source of video and various options for the encoding method used to save it as a streaming media file.
Streaming Live Video
Another option you have with this software is to stream the live video over your network.
When setting up live video feeds, your Firewall software may block the connections so please be aware of this and configure your Firewall software to allow the ports to be used.
