Video Streaming
One of the fun things to do with your wireless network is to stream videos from a PC acting as the file server and say a laptop.
As well as files, you can stream DVD content or live video from a WebCam.
Streaming Video Files
This is simple to do in a home network since all you need to do is copy files on the host computer to a "Shared Video" folder in the "Shared Documents" folder.
Common video file formats include:
- MPEG - commonly used with DVDs
- DivX
- AVI
- MOV - QuickTime
- RM - RealPlayer
- Windows Media Files: ASF and WMV
You can set up a Short-Cut on your Desktop that opens up the Shared Video folder. Then the movie will be streamed to your Player* when clicked.
*You may have to install a plugin for the particular type of video format you are trying to play.
